It’s changed too much. Endless reblogging of things I realize I don’t care about. It’s cool to promote something but that’s about it. It doesn’t offer any sort of connectivity and if it does I feel like I have to dig through piles of pointless blogs with no original content.

I’m not a contributor to the original content but I’m a consumer of it. I have very little here left to consume. I feel like I could keep in better touch with the people I want through email so, if you want to exchange contact info to keep in touch, let me know.

I just feel like my time could be better spent doing other things.

You know who gives a fuck? Millions of people, like me, who are affected by that shit, as well as our allies. Wearing that warbonnet is an incredibly offensive, ignorant, racist act toward people who are seriously oppressed.

And it’s totally fine if you like/love/want to scissor Lana Del Rey. Do that. I’m not telling you not to. But it’s totally possible to do that without turning a blind eye to her perpetuating the cycle of cultural genocide that’s been affecting millions of people for over 500 years. You can be her fan/lover/sister/BFF4LYFE while still recognizing that she’s not an infallible human being and that donning a warbonnet was an incredibly ignorant choice. You can support someone without supporting everything they do, especially when you learn that what they’re doing is damaging.

And, until you learn to do that, you’re just another racist reveling in your own ignorance and privilege. And, one day when you grow up a little—if you grow up a little—you’ll realize that that apathy and lack of social conscience you’re coveting don’t make you cool or edgy; it’s just really fucking sad.

I don’t even know how to respond to this level of willful ignorance. I can’t. Okay. Deep breath. Okay. Okay. I’d ask you to explain what you think racism “technically” is, but I’m sure it’s so out of touch with reality that I’ll throw a clot. Oh, boy. OKAY.

Racism isn’t just when people use slurs or commit violence based on race. It has many subtle forms. That includes the appropriation (that means “theft”) of cultural aspects (such as the Plains warbonnet) by people outside of that culture (including Lana Del Rey and “hipsters”). That’s especially true when that theft is damaging to the culture, such as when it’s used to symbolically portray stereotypes, like Lana is doing. That is absolutely racism. And, FYI, you don’t get to define what acts you commit against people they’re allowed to be hurt or offended by. Trying to is, unsurprisingly, also racism.
